This is a good easy read. The progression was rational and fair. The spoiler is long because I’m pretty sure some people will think his second life was illogically sweet. It wasn’t

Our MC was hated by his band members in his first life because he was a lousy team player, often taking the brunt of the work load for himself, making the others look as though they were just slackers sponging off of him. This was in part because he wanted the credits. When he realized what a dick he was and tries to make up for it, it’s too late. When he worked his butt off to write them one last song, the group saw it as his usual MO grabbing the spotlight. It was fair, that was what he used to do.

In his second he vows to not be a workhorse, after all everyone got paid the same.

His first major interaction with the band sets the stage for their impression of him, and their subsequent good will. When it was revealed he signed the contract before the rest of the band, that he had negotiated a better rate of pay for everyone, they were amazed and impressed. In their eyes he was putting himself out there to fight for them. He could have been rejected by the management company and replaced by someone else. In that light, with that kind of risk, his actions took on a lot of meaning.

From there the seeds of change sprout, and they color their views of his actions, proscribing positive attributes to all the things he does.
