Part 1: When Gu Zhen was Crown Prince, he most despised his weak and incompetent Crown Princess. He was always strong-willed and decisive, his gentle exterior concealing a cruel and merciless nature. But his Crown Princess was weak, docile, and submissive—in no way a match for him. After his ascension to the throne, he used thunderous force to punish stubborn aristocratic families. Empress Zhao Yiyi’s parents and clans were the first to suffer. The Empress requested to live in seclusion in the Jiao Fang Palace, and Gu Zhen didn’t respond. For a time, the former couple became strangers. Gu Zhen always thought he had plenty of time; he was the Emperor, with the world in his grasp, no need to rush. But later, when the Empress, as he wished, developed a cold and hard heart, he realized it might be too late.
Part 2: Looking at the Emperor begging for her forgiveness, Zhao Yiyi slightly curled her lips. “Kneel and beg me,” she said. Gu Zhen immediately knelt before her imperial concubine couch without hesitation. Zhao Yiyi looked at the Emperor with disdain, sneering. She grabbed Gu Zhen’s chin and leaned down, “I was lying, did you really believe it?” Gu Zhen’s eyes were red, and he reached out to grab a corner of her clothes, but Zhao Yiyi cruelly brushed him away. His voice was hoarse, “Yiyi, don’t be angry. Let’s be like before, okay?” Zhao Yiyi looked down at the nail polish on her fingertips, nonchalantly saying, “No.”
