Xiao Wu, Mu Fan, Liu Sisi, and Ling Fei’er are two couples who rent an old, traditional courtyard house.

One night, the power went out, so the four decided to play the `Pen Spirit´ game. But in doing so, they broke two major rules of the game: they asked the `Pen Spirit´ how it died and forgot to send it away at the end.

This novel has been made into a film with the title ´Death is Here´, directed by Guan Er. The film was released in all cinemas in China on June 8, 2012, and online playback platform: IQIYI.
